Handover of the Olympic flag in Cambridge

On Sunday 24th August, the Olympic flag was raised at Parkside Pools to celebrate the moment when London became the official Olympic games host city. Mayor of Cambridge, Councillor Mike Dixon was on hand to help unfurl the Olympic Handover Flag for Cambridge.

Councillor Julie Smith, the Executive Councillor for Arts & Recreation, said: "The London 2012 Olympic Games will inspire a generation of young people, and Cambridge City Council are pleased to kick start the excitement by launching a new run route round Parkers Piece and with our leisure contractor, SLM, providing a free swimming session at Parkside Pools".
